During 25000 BC and earlier, the Brahmin community, in spite of their scriptural knowledge, the highest intellect and honesty, were economically deprived, as their duty was to give knowledge and perform the religious rituals without seeking anything in return. So they had to live in poverty and depend entirely on the alms given by others out of generosity. Very few astrologers who had fortune to get kings’ patronage were well-to-do. So they requested Maharshi Bhrigu to find an harmonious solution to end their poverty.
Maharshi Bhrigu worshipped Goddess Bhagavati -Sri Maha Lakshmi. After a long tapasya of twelve years, she appeared before him and granted him his wish. She advised him to create an astrological treatise with the help of which the Brahmin community can predict the past, present and future of people, and this will ward off their poverty. She told him no person shall have astrological predications as a free service; it shall be a great sin. The person must reward the astrologer liberally with dasa-daan (ten types of offerings) which include gold coins, certain design n colored clothes, domestic animal like cow n etc etc , land, house and the like. If a person takes free service from an astrologer (Brahman) using cunning / wicked tact, he has to repay thousand times the fee during next birth to the Vedic-astrologer (Brahm-Hatya type sin). This is a Runa (Debt), which is carried through different births in future. Then she granted him devagna-Gnanam (proficiency in Vedic astrology) as a boon and disappeared.
IN Vedic age; Maharshi Bhrugu, with the help of Bhagavan Sri Ganesha, compiled the legendary book Bhrugu Sanhita during 25000 period BC during Modern and finest Vedic age. Bhrugu-Sanhita has become an important Vedang (an organ of Vedas) with co-education faculties like Ayurveda and Vastu Shashtra and Yog-Darshan. Later great Maharshi wrote monumental works on astrology; they include. Bhrugu-sutram, Bhrugum, Bhrugu-ship Sanhita are other books of Greatest Maharshi Bhrugu. Some books of its not available in its origin form.
Basic Jyotish Granth at pre-vedic era and vedic age like (1) Sidhdhant-Shiromani(original) (2) sfoot sidhdhant (3) Arunoday Sanhita (4) Sury-Sidhdhant (4) Bal-vibodh for learner and initials(original) (5) Surya-jyotish(Not sion) for secondary studies …. … Etc... Etc …..
In that time some books were not compiled. Only it was formate of Jyotish-Vidhya Shiksha by Shrut-Parmapara. In Shrut-parmapara, student learning by memory power and; the teacher also teaches certain subject without any textbook. This custom was by heritance. Coz it was very ideal and the best method for learning Non-pictorial subject. Shrut –parmpara have been many meanings and certain aims in that age and now also. (1) Maharshi Parasara. He was the father of Maharshi Veda Vyas (Who wrote Maha Bharat in Sanskrit) and the great grand father of Pandavas and Kauravas of Maha Bharat epic.
